We represent approximately 75% of the Brazilian market, bringing together the leading sports betting operators from Brazil and around the world. Our mission is to help build a trustworthy, sustainable, and responsible online betting ecosystem.

As the representative body for the industry, IBJR advocates for a regulated market that drives the growth of online betting in Brazil. Achieving this requires a firm stance against illegal operators, which operate outside the law and harm both the industry and society as a whole

The regulation of betting in Brazil came into effect on January 1, 2025, establishing rules for the sector and consumer protection measures. Under the new law, only regulated betting operators were authorized to continue operating, and they must comply with a series of regulatory requirements to operate in the country.
For this public policy to become more than just a temporary fix and instead a structural solution, it is essential to distinguish the regulated market from clandestine operators that function without any commitment to consumer protection.

Player Protection: Implementation of digital tools to prevent gambling addiction, such as time and spending limits, along with support for at-risk and problem gamblers.
Financial Responsibility: Encouraging personal financial education and promoting the understanding that betting is not an investment strategy, but a form of entertainment.
Responsible Marketing Practices: Upholding ethical advertising standards to ensure promotions are clear, not misleading, and targeted exclusively at adults. IBJR collaborates with Brazilian advertising oversight bodies such as CONAR, which already includes specific guidelines on betting ads in its self-regulatory code.
All IBJR members hold federal authorization to operate within Brazil’s betting market.
